Logistical masterpiece on the Rhine

A complete ship docking facility travelled along the Rhine to its new location near Cologne. This extraordinary heavy transport impressively demonstrates what is possible with modern engineering and innovative transport technology.

Three SVT ATLANTIC ship loading arms started their journey on the busy and winding Rhine. A powerful tugboat and a specially equipped Rhine vessel brought the fully assembled boat landing stage (“Jetty”) safely to its destination. With a weight of 2,400 tonnes and a length of 100 metres, this heavy transport was anything but ordinary. The journey required precise planning and meticulous coordination of all the teams involved. A heavy transport in a class of its own.

Innovation through Plug-and-Play-Technology

Thanks to the innovative plug-and-play functionality of the SVT ship loading arms, Jetty could be integrated into the prepared harbour infrastructure and replace an old bridge structure.

The special feature: While conventional dock levellers require 40 fastening piles, Jetty is held in place by just six pile moorings. This technology enables rapid commissioning and saves resources, time and costs.
